Newly renovated room in Ekkergem

In quiet Ekkergem, a mix of city vibes with a touch of village charm, you’ll find our cozy student house with 8 rooms and 2 studios. This room becomes available in September! ABOUT YOUR ROOM… Your room is 12m² and is located on the ground floor facing the street. It’s the room on the bottom right in the picture of the front of the house, so with a view of Brankardierstraat. There’s a beautiful wooden laminate floor. In your room, there’s also a fridge for personal use and a sink with a cabinet underneath. You’ll have a white desk and chair (both different from the photo) and a small low cupboard available. You can sleep either on the fold-out bed (when folded it forms a sideboard) or on the high sleeper (bring your own mattress for hygienic reasons). asking price: 415 euros (12-month contract) The price is INCLUSIVE of electricity, gas, water, and internet. Our students create a “kotpot” for communal purchases like toilet paper and garbage bags. ABOUT OUR STUDENT HOUSE… In our student house, there is a communal dining area and kitchen (4 hobs and an oven, sinks, microwave, kettle, coffee maker, and toaster): just look at the photos. In the main kitchen, you get a shelf in the kitchen cupboard to store personal cooking items and dry foods. There’s also a basic set of cookware, dishes, and cutlery for everyone to use. Next to the kitchen, you’ll find the communal bathroom with shower and toilet. There is an extra toilet on the first floor. You sort your waste in the inner courtyard, where you can also safely store your bike. You’ll find images of these communal spaces among the photos. A cleaning help comes regularly to clean all communal spaces (hallways, stairs, toilets, kitchen, and bathroom), but keeping all these spaces tidy remains primarily the responsibility of all students together! Our student rooms were established in the 1980s by my parents. Since my father's passing a few years ago, my husband Kasper and I have continued this wonderful legacy. We live in West Flanders, but we come to Brankardierstraat whenever necessary. A few years ago, the roof was completely renewed. This summer, the back facade also received extra insulation. All windows are double-glazed. We have a valid certificate of conformity and fully comply with (fire) safety regulations. ABOUT THE NEIGHBORHOOD… Everything you need is close by. A stone’s throw away is the local bakery, and within a 500-meter radius are Lidl and Carrefour. Not much further are Colruyt and Bioplanet. It’s just a 6 minute bike ride to the city center. After just 3 minutes of cycling, you’ll arrive at Groenevalleipark, the Watersportbaan, the GUSB sports complex, Rooigem swimming pool, or a fitness club. There are fry shops, affordable restaurants, and cafés everywhere nearby. Tram stops are also close by. A 5-minute bike ride will take you to the Bijloke, the Sint-Lucas academy, or the KASK conservatory. Even closer, you’ll find the Faculty of Psychology & Pedagogy, the Coupure or HILO campuses of Ghent University. And in Ghent, no school is ever really far away ;-) …INTERESTED? Send us an email!
